Groups of any size will learn a great deal from a workshop with Robert Marks. Classes can be specially designed for the needs of your group, whether they are aspiring professionals or just interested in the inner-workings of show business.

A genius coach! I regularly bring my senior university students to New York for a session with Bob, and in no time, his guidance opens a world of interpretive choices, and a performance style that is exquisitely nuanced.

Holly Logue
Chair, Kean University Department of Theatre

Successful group sessions have included:

MOCK AUDITIONS where students perform their songs and get valuable feedback on their choice of material, stage presence and vocal technique.

MASTER CLASSES which include tips on song selection, staging, dealing with accompanists, and preparing for “real world” theatre audition situations.

ALL-IN-ONE WORKSHOPS with professional guest instructors in scenes, monologues, technical vocal issues, dance audition preparation, and diction.

Robert Marks came to Belmont University as our clinician for the Summer Vocal Pedagogy and Performance Workshop. For three days Mr. Marks spoke to a group of teachers and performers about Musical Theatre. I walked away with much understanding of that genre and the requirements at the professional level, which will help me to bring my students to greater levels of artistry and I will be able to help them become competitive in the market. Mr. Marks was friendly and engaging and showed his mastery of the style, role requirements, auditions repertoire, and more. We could not have had a better clinician to show us what it takes to compete on Broadway!

We had forty participants total, which included teachers and performers. The participants in the class were excited to work with Mr. Marks and their reviews of the workshop were outstanding. Most of the performers stated that they learned a lot and many questions were answered. The teachers said that they now understand how to help their singers who wish to sing Musical Theatre. They also valued the sessions on belting and 16 bar cuts. Watching Mr. Marks take a section out of an entire song to make a 16 bar cut that highlighted the performer's singing was extremely helpful for the teachers as well!

Dear Bob,

Oh what a fabulous presentation you gave for our CCM Institute. It was just wonderful. We received rave reviews from the students, which was no surprise.

You were clearly on top of all the styles, music, and issues around auditioning. Your humor was beyond funny; just wonderful. It was such a joy to watch you work with the students.
I certainly hope you will be available next year because we would love you to come again.

Contemporary Commercial Music Institute
Shenandoah University, Winchester, VA

Our New York trip had many wonderful moments, but one of the most memorable and enjoyable was the musical audition seminar that Robert Marks taught to my students. It was both fun and educational while giving my students the opportunity to work with someone who has his pulse on the real world of musical theatre.

These affordable classes have proven to be informative, educational, and great fun. Mr. Marks creates classes that deal with each group’s specific needs, and every class is tailored to meet the goals of the students. Cost depends on the number of students, venue, and length of class. Please call or email with your specific requirements.

In my capacity as vice-chair of the Young Performer's Committee of Actors' Equity, I often bring well-known professionals to work with our youngest union members to help strengthen their performance technique. Over the last several years, whenever the topic was preparing for musical comedy auditions and where to look for age-appropriate music, Bob Marks has been the hallmark by which others in the field are measured. His influence on the children’s artistic growth is profound.

Bob Marks attended our summer convention 2003 ATS Conference in Charleston, SC. We were so fortunate to have Bob attend our event, and teach a vocal workshop. It was the most effective, impressive workshop for singers that we have ever offered in the 10 years we have been doing this convention. Parents, as well as children and teens attended. It was organized, professional, interesting, and effective. It was a wonderful opportunity for those fortunate enough to attend. It was a terrific boost vocally, and a great confidence builder as well. It just doesn't get any better!

Donna Ehrlich
Z-1 Models and Talent Director
ATS, MJA, Carolina Winds Productions

I took some great tips away with me and went into my audition today with more confidence than I have had for a while. It was great to get a different take on things as we all know Americans do everything bigger and better! You were very encouraging and honest. I was beginning to lose faith in the British musical theatre scene and  remember saying to my friends, you made me remember why I absolutely 100% love to perform!

Bob has just injected my French cast and students with an authentic  Broadway energy, professionalism and spirit which will keep them inspired until at least his return (hopefully!) here in Paris.  They were very excited to work with him and they all agreed they got a lot out of the masterclass.  Bob is also totally supporting me as an Australian director, teacher and singer here in Paris by sharing his vast experience of the industry with me, advising my cast on repertoire, giving them many little gems which they can practically use to improve their performances, and all in a very positive, enjoyable way.  I look forward to Bob's return here to Paris and working more with him.

Liz Lecoanet, Director of Musical Theatre
Vie et Loisirs à Noisiel, France

Dear Bob,

Thank you for the wonderful workshop/masterclass on Tuesday. The students
are still talking about it. They are asking questions and thinking about
their music, auditions and career in a different light. I believe is was
an eye opening experience for many of them.

I had a great time too. I was delighted that Laura was able to get you to
come to SAM.

Thanks again.

Sincerely,
